Colour is the soul of Santoni, from the creative thinking to the final product. Through the perfection of its icons, Santoni introduces an artistic play of nuances inspired by the beauty of its land, Le Marche, in the heart of Italy.
For the FW20 collection Santoni had the wonderful experience of collaborating with artist Karin Kellner. We chose Kellner for her ability to interpret our sense of colour with the same sensibility and for her skill in using the watercolour technique, which is delicate but with a very modern and artistic final result. Working mainly with the human figure, she uses tenuous colours that are then put in contrast with “strong” objects, as you can see in the final images featuring Santoni shoes.
Born in Nuremberg and raised between Germany and Italy, Karin kellner, after graduating in Industrial Design at the Milan Polytechnic, worked in the field of architecture creating graphics and decorations for installations and public spaces. In 2008 she began her career as a freelance illustrator and thanks to her versatility and ability to expertly mix traditional techniques and digital media, Karin has collaborated with some of the most prestigious Italian and international magazines and commercial brands such as Monocle, Il Sole 24 Ore, Il Corriere della Sera, ICON, ICON Design, Rolling Stone, Architektur & Wohnen, La Cucina Italiana, Esquire, Mr. Porter, Rivista Studio, Undici, Marie Claire France, GQ, Sperling & Kupfer, DePadova, Giorgetti, just to name a few. He currently lives and works in Milan.
